About the Artist

When Cisco first met Mariajuanita, he asked her a simple question: What's your passion? Her eyes lit up instantly. "Oil painting," she said without hesitation. "It will always be my first love."

But she wasn't painting. She had just moved and couldn't afford the supplies. The very next day, they went to the art store together and filled a cart with canvases, brushes, and paints — everything she needed to create again.

From that moment on, she never stopped. She painted every single day, often late into the night. For twelve years, she traveled the world with Cisco, adapting her craft along the way — mastering acrylics, then digital art. She was brilliant in every medium she touched.

This is why The Mariajuanita Guzman Art Foundation exists — because MJ knew what it felt like to have a dream but lack the means to pursue it. By supporting her work, you help us remove those barriers for other artists.

Learn About the Foundation

Viajes — Spanish for journeys. During their first months living overseas in Thailand, MJ and Cisco chose a new name together. They got it tattooed, and MJ adopted it as her pen name instantly — a reflection of the adventures that lay ahead, painting her way across the world.

They called themselves the "Roaming Pigs" — always on the move, always seeking the next great adventure and the next amazing meal. For over eight years they traveled together through Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas, MJ painting everywhere they went.
