MJ painted almost every day for twelve years. Her work now belongs to the Foundation, and prints of it pay for the supplies, grants and studio time that artists starting out cannot afford.

Mariajuanita Guzman (1982–2025) painted in oils first and best. She called oil on canvas her first love. When life on the road made oils impractical she moved to acrylics, then to digital work, and she was good at all of it.
Viajes is Spanish for journeys. In their first months living in Thailand, MJ and her husband Cisco picked a new name together and had it tattooed. She kept it as her pen name and painted her way across the world under it.
They called themselves the Roaming Pigs, because they were always moving and always eating. For eight years they went through Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas, and MJ painted everywhere they went.
Someone once bought MJ the paints she could not afford, and she never stopped after that. Buying her work is how the Foundation does the same thing for somebody else.
